Privacy Policy

Opera York and its agents take the issue of privacy seriously. To ensure the privacy of personal patron information (current and potential ticket buyers and donors), Opera York will abide by the following policies.
Personal information on Opera York patrons may include:

  • Name, home and business address, telephone numbers, e-mail address
  • Age and birth date
  • Personal and public financial information
  • Purchasing and donating history
  • Medical information (related to seating needs)
  • Professional and personal relationships, affiliations and activities
  • Artistic preferences and other personal interests
  • Seating and donation preferences
  • Patron communications such as letters or verbal feedback

How we use this information:

  • To communicate with and maintain a responsible professional relationship with Opera York patrons
  • To understand the needs and desires of patrons, and to develop sales, service and donor programmes suitable to Opera York patrons
  • To meet legal and regulatory requirements
  • On occasion, we exchange names from our mailing lists with other cultural organizations we feel our patrons would be interested in. We do not sell or exchange our e-mail lists.
  • Sponsorship plays a vital role in funding our operations. On behalf of our sponsors, we may occasionally share special promotions with our patrons

Consent for the collection, retention and use of personal patron information is implicit when patrons provide such information. Opera York patron information is never sold, but on occasion Opera York exchanges names and addresses from its database with other organizations that Opera York believes would be of interest to its patrons. Patrons may request that Opera York limit its communications with them, or specify that their names not be exchanged with other organizations, by contacting Opera York. These requests will be implemented immediately although due to the extensive lead-time for printing and processing of our mailings, communications may not cease for a one-month period.

Please Note: Information posted on operayork.com and on all electronic mailings issued by Opera York —including dates, casting, pricing, repertoire and productions—is assumed correct at time of transmission and is subject to change.

Ticket Policy

The terms of the Opera York ticket policy are incorporated herein.

All Sales are final. Payment is processed immediately on receipt of order, after which there are no cancellations or refunds. Opera York regrets that we cannot accept conditional subscription orders. All seating requests are based on availability and are not guaranteed.

Snow Policy
Opera York is committed to honouring its published performance schedule. All Opera York performances will proceed as scheduled regardless of extreme weather conditions. Please allow for plenty of extra time when travelling to the theatre in inclement weather.

We regret that tickets not used due to inclement weather cannot be refunded. Opera York tickets may be exchanged for another performance of the same opera (subject to availability and service charges) up to and no later than one full Opera York Ticket Services business day before the original performance date.

Ticket Exchanges

All tickets are exchangeable for another performance of the same opera (subject to availability) up to and no later than one full business day before the original performance date.

How
Tickets may be exchanged through RHCPA Ticket Services by phone or e-mail. Tickets may also be exchanged in person at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts Box Office. Voided tickets must be returned in order to obtain new tickets.

Lost Tickets
Lost tickets can be replaced free of charge by contacting RHCPA Ticket Services. If you forget your tickets on the day of the performance, don't rush home. We will be happy to replace your tickets free of charge at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts Box Office, no later than one hour prior to curtain.

Wheelchair Seating Limited wheelchair seating is available at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. Contact RHCPA Ticket Services to arrange for seating. Wheelchair seating must be arranged at the time of ticket purchase and cannot be accommodated on the day of the performance.

Cameras & Recording Devices
The use of cameras, video cameras or sound-recording devices of any kind is prohibited in Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. These devices must be checked at Patron Services located on the Main Level before entering the auditorium. Any person using an unauthorized recording device will be required to surrender or erase any recordings, photographic or digital images and may be asked to leave. No refunds will be issued.

Children & Babes in Arms
All patrons, including children, must have a ticket for the performance. Children 15 years of age or under must be accompanied by and seated next to an adult. There is a limit of two young people’s tickets per adult ticket. Children should be able to sit quietly throughout the performance. If unable to do so, children and their accompanying adult will be asked to leave the auditorium. Babes-in-arms will not be admitted.

Electronic Devices
Wristwatch chimes, cellular phones, pagers and all other electronic devices are extremely disruptive and must be turned off before the performance. If a patron has an emergency and must be contacted during a performance, he or she should contact Patron Services for assistance before the performance.
Etiquette Patrons are reminded that Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts is an extremely lively auditorium and that all audience noise is accentuated and will be audible to other patrons. Turn off all electronic devices, avoid talking, coughing, humming, moving loose seats, kicking the backs of seats, rustling programs, and unwrapping candies or cough drops. In consideration of patrons with allergies avoid wearing perfumed beauty products and fragrances. Please remain in your seat until the performance has completely ended and the house lights have been turned on.

Latecomers
In the interest of safety and for the comfort of all patrons and performers, latecomers are not permitted to enter the auditorium or be seated unless there is a suitable break in the performance (usually intermission). Patrons leaving the auditorium during the performance or returning late after intermission may not be readmitted.

Parking & Road Closures
Please note that if there are events in the downtown core, parking can be difficult to find. Check for special events that may cause road closures, especially on weekends, and give yourself extra time to arrive at the opera house. Due to the great costs of overtime, and the inconvenience to other patrons, performances will start promptly at the time printed on the ticket. It is the responsibility of the ticket holder to arrive in sufficient time to be in their assigned seat by the advertised starting time—please plan to arrive early.

Smoking
The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts is a smoke-free facility.
